It is always good to get out and see what the Gift Your Gear groups are up to.
Last week we joined Rohan to spent valuable time with Nacro, a national social justice charity with a presence in Manchester, whilst they took part in The Wythenshaw Games an event held in Wythenshaw Park, a fantastic green space including woods, meadows, a playground, sports amenities and a farm with horse-riding.
The Wythenshawe Games is a five-day, fun sports and cultural festival for all ages – children and adults. Oh, and it was all free! Read more
Nacro – Greater Manchester Outdoor Learning was at the games in a bespoke area giving visitors the opportunity to try some of the activities and talk about what is on offer. The team leaders are passionate about the powerful nature of active outdoor learning and the many and far-reaching benefits for lifelong learning. The team deliver quality outdoor learning for schools, colleges, the voluntary sector and the community, working with children, young people and adults. We spent time with Richard from Nacro learning about how they use their Gift Your Gear donations. We talked to the young people involved in their DofE and it soon became obvious the importance of the work and the real benefits it can deliver.
Gary donated some new Rohan children water proof jackets to Richard and learned more about how the donated outdoor gear in the Rohan Shops is used by the groups.
